Today, I'm giving you a tour of the wedding decorations from our wedding day!
Most decorations were made by myself, or by a friend or family member who helped me very much!
Ceremony Decorations
This is our ceremony backdrop. I found these two old doors at a yard sale about a year before the wedding for $8. My grandpa used boards to keep them standing at that angle, and we added a panel of nearly sheer taupe fabric in the middle. |
Here is our guest book table. As you can see, we used a lace table cloth, an antique churner, as well as a painted pallet board, some pictures, flowers, and pencils in a jar with coffee beans. |
Tyler and I love rocks, and my grandma was gracious enough to let us borrow my grandpa's rocks for the wedding. He was also an avid collector, and had tons of gorgeous rocks. Here, they were becoming paper weights, as our wedding day was quite windy. The guest book sign was drawn by me and put in an old frame of my mom's. |
This is our ceremony from afar. You can see the back of our door backdrop, as well as the guest's chairs. We borrow chairs from my parent's church - and it just so happened that the colors coordinated with the wedding. They had earthy yellow, green and brown chairs. |
Reception Decorations
Cake Table
Here is our cake set up area. Inside our lodge, there was a 13 foot bar. That is where we had the cake, since it was the sturdiest place in the lodge. My mom build the cake stand from scratch, and I made the family board sitting in the front. |
In front of the 13 foot bar, we put out two tables. The tables were about one foot shorter than the bar, so it made a nice stacked effect...and also kept the cake from being tampered or bumped. On the left side of these tables, we lined up the different cupcake flavors and put signs with them accordingly. |
On the right side of the tables in front of the bar, we had small glass drink dispensers. In this line, the guests had the option of lemonade, or coffee on the rocks. |
Lodge Interior Decorations
The interior of the lodge had a nice fireplace with a cedar mantle. It was a nice place to display some decorations. The "All You Need is Love" sign was made by me, the SMITHS sign was from my bachelorette party, and the rocks belonged to my grandpa. The flowers were borrowed from my grandma. |
Below the mantle, we set out some pictures, more signs and flowers. |
Below the mantle on the right side is a large rock belonging to my grandpa, burlap flowers, a recycled coffee tin turned rustic with burlap, lace and pinecones, a photo of us, and a rustic barrel borrowed from my grandma.

Here, you see a large shot of the interior of the lodge. We strung lights across the beams, paper pinwheels tied across the room, and burlap as tablecloths for all the tables.

Exterior Tables
These wildflowers were picked near the lodge just hours before the wedding. So beautiful! |
All the jars at our wedding were recycled from other things - sauce jars, jelly jars, starbucks frapp jars, you get the point! We sincerely thank everyone who helped us in collecting all these jars! |
The yellow flowers were bought at the Dollar Tree, while I made the ribbon flower and lace flowers. |
Interior Tables
This handmade centerpiece is made from a recycled coffee tin wrapped in burlap, lace, and pearls. Each tin was
filled with styrofoam and layered with craft grass, pebbles and pine cones The
rustic tea light sat in each of these centerpieces.
The burlap is a gunny sack that has been slipped around a booth style table. We also sat out seafoam colored frames with photos of us dating in them.

The Natural Scenery
A windmill sat just at the front of the lodge, and is the first thing you see when you go over the hill in the driveway. |
This dock is on the south lake.

North lake - we hadn't gotten too much rain before the wedding, so it was a bit low.

South pond from the dock. Quite a nice evening view.

There were actually quite a few other wedding decorations that I didn't get pictures of...perhaps I can go digging through my old pictures and see what I took when I made them and create another post for you with the missing links then!
Lovely! I love the doors, the use of the rocks, the family photos and the wildflowers. So many creative touches, just gorgeous!
