The Longest Blog Post in History

So a really really really really REALLY long time ago, I was nominated for the Liebster award (by several people). And when I say a long time ago, I mean it.  Seriously.  I didn't even have enough blogging connections to meet the requirements to tag 11 other bloggers.  We're really talking years ago.

What I'm really trying to tell you here is that you'd probably better go refill your coffee cup and grab a snack, because this is a really long post!  But these ladies all asked some really fun questions that I enjoyed getting to take the time to answer.  I don't do a lot of posts like this, so I hope this will give you a better insight to what I'm like in "real life!"

Liebster: (der) n. sweetheart, beloved person, darling

Each nominee should:
Mention the person who nominated you with a link to their blog.
Answer the eleven questions they asked.
Nominate eleven other bloggers with a smaller following but a lot of potential.
Create eleven of your own questions for them to answer.
Notify your nominees.

So here we go with answering all the questions!
(5 nominations times 11 questions is me answering 55 questions.
I won't judge if you don't make it through this.)

Veronica at Passion Pink & Pearls.
Veronica is an old college friend of mine and fellow Okie blogger (who simultaneously has a Texas flag on her front porch and celebrates Texas Independence Day)...let's just call her a psuedo Okie or Okie by choice. haha  ; )  She blogs about her marriage, faith, interior design, and her black lab Paisley!  She sent me my very first Liebster nomination a while back!

1. What's your college football team?
The Oklahoma Sooners!

2. What's your silliest blog post?
My silliest blog post is probably when I posted about a video I took in China of some little kids at their morning dance class.  I cal the video "Kindergarten Romance" and that really explains the cuteness of it.

3. What do you do? What's your occupation?
I actually accepted a job offer this week, but I think I'll wait a little longer before I say what it is on the blog, as I haven't even filled out the employee paperwork yet.  Soon enough, once I've gotten the hang of the job, I'll tell you about it!
(On that note, I'm about to be working full time on the opposite schedule as my husband and taking a daytime class.  I'm accepting guest post offers since the time I can devote to this blog is about to significantly decrease, please email your guest post ideas to letsdrinkcoffeedarling@gmail.com)

4. What's your favorite picture? Share it!
This has been one of my favorite pictures since we took it in March 2011!

5. What's your favorite way to wear pearls?
With a black shirt or dress...they stand out so nicely that way!

6. If you're married, what's your favorite gift you got from your wedding? If not, what's your favorite birthday gift?
Favorite?!  How is that possible.
    • Well, the most sentimental gifts were the bowl from Tyler's grandmother that she said was from her mother's wedding in the 1920s, and the wooden tray that Tyler's grandpa made himself from a tree that used to grow in their yard.
    • The gift we interact with most often is the wedding quilt Tyler's mom made us on our bed.
    • The most useful gifts were from our friend who moved from Oklahoma to Oregon and gave us his desk and dresser (our coffee bar) as his wedding gifts since he couldn't make it back to be at the wedding.

7. What's the best surprise you've ever had?
My friend Deana and family gave me a surprise farewell party a couple weeks before I studied abroad in China!  I totally didn't suspect it, and it was so nice to get to see everyone together before I left!

8. What magical power would you choose to have?
If I could have ANY magical power, it would be the ability to stop time (for everyone and everything else) and do what I wanted to do while time was stopped.  Then, when I was done either sleeping, preparing for tests, or crafting I could resume time.

9. What Pinterest find are you dying to do? Or have done? Share it!
I'm dying to make my own case for my wedding dress...but to preserve it properly takes a lot of research on the materials to make sure they are acid free, won't cause discoloration, and that the glass I use is UV protectant is challenging.  Not really a Pinterest find but more of an inspiration.

10. What's your favorite cereal?
This one is actually a result of Mrs. Veronica, Oatmeal Squares!  I'd never heard of them until she shared her stash with me at a Spring Break conference 4 years ago!

11. What's your favorite dessert?
Um, anything that has the word "cheesecake!"

Mary sent me my most recent nomination!  She has such a kind personality, and we are both super similar in our feelings about mornings (read her answers to the Liebster questions).  If you read at Eat Drink and be Mary...you will see just that:  Mary being Mary.  She blogs about her life with her love Thomas, cooking, her home life, and one thing I find particularly interesting is she is a clogger!

Below are Mary's questions!
1. How did you pick your blog name?
I was nearing the end of my time studying abroad.  I wanted to write about my time there, but also about other things in my life.  I really really missed seeing Tyler at the time, and I love coffee, so I guess in the forefront of my mind "Let's Drink Coffee, Darling" is really all I wanted to do - drink coffee and be with my darling.  All the other stuff I post about on here is just the cream and sugar.  :)

2. Name a food/meal you could eat everyday for a week?
Peanut. Butter. Yum.

3. If your life were a movie, which movie star would play you?
Well, I'd have to say Julia Stiles since there used to be this lady in my hometown who would see me in public and point and yell "Hi, hi, you look like Julia Stiles!  Hi Julia Stiles!  Hi.  Hey, Hi Julia Stiles!!"
(It was really awkward when that happened MULTIPLE TIMES.)

4. Who is your celebrity crush?
Ummmm...that's hard.  I don't really have one.  He was totally a loser on the show, but since I loved Breaking Bad so much I'm not sure you can finish without liking Jesse just a little bit...especially since he's the only person with a slight internal moral code left.  So my answer is Aaron Paul, although I don't really have celebrity crushes...

5. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
Our closet isn't in the bedroom...but if it answers the same question, I don't like the curtain that separates our bedroom from the rest of the house to be open.  It freaks me out.

6. What is your favorite topic to blog about?
I really love blogging about things I've made, and giving people ideas about things they can do too!

7. What do you dip a chicken nugget in?
Nothing most likely...but in ranch or something spicy on a special day.

8. Do you still live close to family?
We have family within an hour, if you call that close...but no one in the same city.

9. What is a movie you could watch over and over?
Moulin Rouge, The Lion King, Up!, How to Train Your Dragon, Tangled, Pride and Prejudice...Disney...

10. Coffee or tea?
Um, do I need to answer this?

11. If you were going to be on a reality TV show, which one would it be?
Oh goodness, I really can't stand reality TV.  Can we create a new reality show where all the reality shows have to battle against each other and then they all lose but one and then reality show people can have their one show and the rest of us can get back to normal television?  Okay, if we can't do that then I'd probably be on whatever that one wedding show is called if it were prior to my wedding.

Stephanie at Mrs. New Adventures
New Mrs. Adventures
Stephanie is another fellow Okie blogger who likes to blog about recipes, faith and creates some really cute prints on her etsy shop!

1. What made you want to start blogging?
Studying abroad and Pinterest made me want to start - the time I began my blog I was living alone and school was over, so I was a bit lonely and needed a creative outlet!

2. Describe yourself in 3 words.
Loyal, Creative, Night Owl

3.  Favorite movie?
I don't really have a favorite...but I listed some of my favorites in Mary's question!

4.  What's your #1 most replayed song on your iPod?
Hmmm...I should add some music to my phone.  :(

5.  What's the hardest thing you've ever done?
Leave the guy I knew I wanted to marry for six months to live halfway across the earth.

6.  What's the best gift you've ever been given?
When my husband gave me his life to live with me, and that's pretty special!

7.  What story does your family re-tell the most about you being a kid?
They like to tell stories about me taking a pillowcase of stuffed animals everywhere I stayed the night because I felt guilty that I was playing favorites if I left any of them behind.

My parents also like to tell people about how I named my feet (I consider this an only child problem, thank you!  I needed friends).  One foot's name was "Feetie" and the other foot's name was "Toey."  I think the weirdness has toned down a little bit since then....

8.  Best part about waking up?
The coffee.  :)

9.  Were you named after anyone?
I was named after a female character in an 1980s Canadian movie called Bay Boy.  Her name was Saxon Coldwell.
Here's a post all about my name, and some funny common mistakes people make about it!

10.  Mountains or beach?
Mountains all the way.

11.  Any special hidden talents?
I don't really keep it hidden (especially on the blog) but a lot of people in real life have no idea I'm artsy or crafty.

Love and in Between
Karla's blog title really does imply what her blog is all about - her life with her love, and everything in between!  Below are Karla's questions!

1.  Why did you start a blog?
I wanted a creative way to talk about my travels and to talk about projects and life when I returned to the states.

2.  What/Who inspires you to blog?
I think doing what I like to do inspires me to blog.  I love making things, taking photos, and doing things with my husband.  I really enjoy all the neat bloggy friends I've made...and I wasn't even expecting that part when I started!

3.  What do you usually love to blog about?
Crafts, Decorating, and Dates

4.  What' s your dream vacation?
Okay, dream means this doesn't have to be possible.  I dream I could take my hubby all over the world - show him places I've been, and then discover new places together!

5.  What is the best advice you have about relationships?
Hmmm.  This is the hardest question of all of these, but I guess it boils down to respecting each other when things are going great, and also when they aren't!  I'm no expert!

6.  Who is your favorite blogger?
Gotta be a tie between Erica and Rachel!  They're both so sweet!

7.  What kind of movies/ book/ song do you like?
Movies:  I'm not a real big movie person...and it seems like all recent movies aren't that good or they had to steal someone else's idea.  But in general I guess I like classic movies...except for the list of classic movies I've never seen.
Books:  I like books with pictures and tutorials.
Songs:  Mellow and thoughtful like Lifehouse, Coldplay or cutesy like Dave Barnes.

8.  Shoes or bags? Why?
Shoes, because they could always match an outfit just a little bit closer than something you already own!

9.  What piece of clothing is the most practical for you to shop?
Does this mean practical as in easiest or most useful?  Colored skinny jeans are the easiest things I find myself buying...most useful things are probably bras or jeans.

10.  Where do you want to be right now?
That's simple.  China/Asia.
I can think of so many places I want to go, and so many foods I want to eat!

11.  What's your favorite quote?
I guess this is weird...but I don't really have a favorite quote.  Sorry if that's disappointing!

Jess at My Front Porch
Jess writes about life with her husband, work, family and other things going on in her life!  These are her questions!

1. Electronic reading, paper, magazines or paper reading, paper, magazines?
Not sure I understand this question...but although I don't like to read for fun, since I like to read blogs I guess that's electronic.  But it is definitely easier on the eyes to read paper.

2. What item do you collect on vacation?
Since I've only been on "vacation" aka honeymoon once with my hubby...it would be rocks.  For me as a single person, it has thus far been scarves.

3. What is the best Vacation spot you went to?
I didn't really go on a lot of vacations growing up, so I'll just consider all my trips as vacations.  In Wales I stayed in a beach house for a weekend that was pretty awesome.  We had a campfire on the beach under the stars...and that was one of my favorite moments ever.

4. Are you a white gold, gold, or silver kind of person?
Really I love jewelry with mostly yellow gold with white gold touches...but overall yellow gold.

5. Would you rather wear shoes or bare feet and why?
Usually shoes because I have abnormally sweaty feet, so things would stick to them if I'm not wearing shoes which is really gross.  Hope that wasn't TMI.

6. What is your favorite book?
Uhhh...Pinterest?  I actually really hate reading.  Reading isn't for fun since I became a college student, reading is work.

7. What is your favorite song?
Hmmm, favorites are hard because I don't really have favorites.

8. What is your favorite movie?
Ditto the last several times this question came up.

9. Would you rather have a heavy fall scented candle burning or a light spring scented candle burning?
Definitely Fall.  I love Fall!

10. Name one secret obsession.
When at Starbucks, I have to fix the sleeve to where the mermaid matches up where the mermaid is on the cup, and then I have to turn the lid around so that the mouthpiece in the lid is central to the mermaid on the cup.  And if anyone (my husband) tries to change it, I will be really frustrated!

11. Why did you decided to blog?
Ditto from last time this question was asked!

MY NOMINEES
YOU

Seeing that in just a year or so I've received five nominations, I'm going to assume most of you have as well and not make you feel bad for not doing it.  However, I will post some questions that I would ask to any would be nominees and feel free to answer them in the comments.  And...by the way...if you made it through that entire post, kudos to you!  I probably would have moved on to another blog by now!

P.S. If you haven't done the Liebster yet and want to answer these questions on your blog just let me know and I'll put your link under my nominees!

MY QUESTIONS FOR YOU!

1.  What is your favorite object or decoration in your house?  Why?

2.  What is the silliest/most embarrassing movie you own?

3.  If you could live in any ancient civilization, which would it be and why?

4.  If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

5.  What is your go-to snack or meal when you don't feel like cooking?

6.  What is the most creative thing you do on a regular basis?

7.  What is your favorite type of fabric to wear?

8.  What is the most sentimental object you own?  What makes it special?

9.  What is your preferred wall color?  Does it depend on the room, on your favorite color, or do you like simple white?

10.  Are you a morning person or a night owl?  What keeps you rolling with your preferred schedule?

11.  What do you keep as your computer background?

I'd love to hear at least a few answers even if you don't do all 11 of them!

  1. Yay! I get Kudos! :D
So, longest blog post gets longest comments.
Hooray for getting a job offer and accepting it! That’s really exciting, and I can’t wait to hear what it is and what you’ll be doing! :D
That’s a really cute picture of you two, and I agree on the pearls. And on peanut butter. Except I can’t find a brand that I really like. I don’t know if I’m imagining Black Cat peanut butter better than it is just because I can’t get it.
Wow, Julia Stiles really does look like you!
And I don’t know when I became uncomfortable with my bedroom and cupboard doors being open, but I can’t stand it if they are.
Those stories about you as a kid are hilarious! Your loyalty is proven in your commitment to ALL your toys.
Aww, thank you! I like being a favourite... so long as I don’t get bagged and dragged off to sleepovers.
I miss having bare feet... I don’t know when last I felt grass between my toes. And I’ve recently had to admit to myself that I don’t like reading. I think it’s because it’s an activity that needs all my attention – I can’t do it while checking instagram or while washing dishes or while walking or while talking... so it feels like a waste of time.
As for the questions you ask... those are some of the most creative I’ve seen!

    1. Thanks! I found out today that I start Sunday night (it is an overnight position)! I'm excited, but just thinking about how our lives, meal schedules, and doing my class with a full time job is already making me feel a bit tired! Hopefully in a couple weeks I can figure out a schedule that works for us.

I've never heard of Black Cat peanut butter...must be a SA thing. Most people in the states like Peter Pan brand...not sure if Germany has that but it is pretty good! I'm not too choosy with the peanut butter!

I promise, I don't bag my favorites and take them to sleepovers anymore - you're safe! ;)

Its funny you mention missing grass. Its been 2 years since I left China, but just the other day I realized that I didn't think I walked on a grass yard a single time while I lived there! Big city life is so different and so few green spaces.

Yay, I love long comments! Thanks for reading, its always fun to get to know each other better! :)

  2. What?? I tied with Erica?? Man, that's pretty awesome!! :)
I did not know that you were named after a movie character, that's really interesting! And I'd rather be in Asia right now, too. My husband and I also brought back rocks from our honeymoon--they're sitting in our china cabinet right now!
And I do see a bit of a resemblance to Julia Stiles--though that encounter of being called "Hi Julia Stiles" in public is hilarious (to me) and soooo awkward!!

    1. You two are awesome!! :)

Its unfortunate I've never seen the movie - I can't find it available online, netflix or anything! haha It must not have been too good! ;)

Since we both would like to be in Asia, Happy Lunar New Year! :)

Rocks make such great souvenirs - they're something you can pick together and are actually a little piece of the place you were at!

Haha, yes...it was a bit awkward. More so that I'm pretty sure it was the same lady who did this to me on multiple accounts! haha I didn't even know who Julia Stiles was back then, but I've also had several other people think I look like her...it was hard to find a good picture to represent what other people see because I think I don't look like her so much when smiling.

  4. One: I loved your little blurb about me; you're too sweet! Two: 55 is soooo many, you deserve a cookie or something for answering them all. Three: I loved reading you responses to the questions! I love the name of you blog & you do resemble Julia Styles. Have a great weekend girl!

  5. I just had to click over when I saw this titled longest post ever! I was surprised how long mine was. I loved reading yours; I like that you named your feet it's pretty cute! :D You do look like Julia Stiles...hehe that's great that she said it on multiple occasions. That would be incredibly awkward.
