OKC Color Run with Discount Code!

I have an announcement for any bloggers (but especially Oklahoma bloggers) who are interested in doing the Color Run!

Have you heard of it?  It is a 5K, but where you get blasted with color each kilometer and a "Color Festival" at the finish line for more color fun.  The only rules to run are these: "Wear white at the starting line and finish plastered in color!"

You can read more info here, and watch this video that will give you a pretty good idea!

Don't you think it looks fun?  The chalk looks amazing!

Well, if you ARE interested there is good news for you!

First of all, the Color Run is coming to Oklahoma City on October 5th!

Second of all, there is a PROMO CODE so you can get $5 off your entry fee!
The code is: COLOR5OFF
The promo code is valid for ANY city that is not sold out! (Even if you aren't a fellow Okie, you can still get that $5 off your fee for a location near you.  You can search locations HERE.)

Lastly, go sign up!
I've been told that the race tends to fill up really fast, so if you want a spot in an open race that you'll need to sign up quickly.  The promo code does not guarantee a spot!

More about my story, and why we're doing the Color Run...

As someone who tends to be more on the artsy/creative side than the athletic side, I'm normally not one for running.  Even when Tyler and I were engaged, I have secretly wanted to start jogging - but at the same time didn't - because I didn't want people to see me run.  Besides just generally being out of shape, I also deal with out-of-breathness due to asthma when I run, so I tend to be embarrassed at how out-of-breath I get when running.  So for the past year and a half I have refused to run with Tyler because I didn't want him to see me run, or anyone else for that matter.

I know that I need to have more exercise in my life, and have been getting better about going to the work out facility with Tyler since we've been married - but I still wouldn't run, until now.  At our apartment now, we have a running track that loops around the small lake to the side of our apartment complex.  We went yesterday to start running so that I'll be in better shape to run in October, and to hopefully continue being in shape together even long after the 5K.

I'm telling you this because, I know I'm not the only person who secretly wants to run/jog, but is just plain out of shape and/or too embarrassed to start!  I'm using this as an incentive to not be embarrassed to run with my much-more-in-shape-husband, as well as a reason to get there myself.  So I'm saying this:  use the promo code and the fun race with tons of color everywhere as an incentive to get out there and not be afraid to try!

PS. Lots of other Oklahoma bloggers are going to this event, so if you're an Oklahoma blogger - you should too!  We've all been looking for a time and place to meet up, so now is a great opportunity! (You can sign up for potential meetings with other bloggers in Oklahoma by signing up on the form linked here.)
**I was compensated by the Color Run with two free tickets for the race, but the words, thoughts, and opinions in this post are my own.  I am excited about getting in shape, running with my husband, and meeting other bloggers from Oklahoma!  Anything in direct quotes is information directly quoted from the information I was given about the event.**

  1. Hooray!
ps: secret, I felt the EXACT same way, and the breathing part gets better just practice slowly breathing. I struggled with that part too.

    1. Hope so... I know a lot of it is just being out of shape, but haven't really tried running since I had pneumonia a few years ago when my asthma got worse. Hoping the more we run the better it gets!
