Let me tell you a little bit about myself, my life, and this blog!

My name is Saxon, and I'm a twenty-something wife, crafter, artist, coffee addict, Pinterest addict, traveler, and lover of other cultures.  In this blog I will share with you my passions and experiences, and hopefully something useful to you as well!

I started Let's Drink Coffee, Darling near the beginning of 2012 while I was studying abroad in China.  At first, I wanted to write about my experiences abroad, but I knew that I would continue blogging about other things.  About six months later, Tyler proposed, and the blog was mostly an outlet for my wedding planning process.  The blog will continue to follow my daily love story with Tyler, and of course the fun things in life like decorating, crafts, and date nights!  I hope you'll join me!

Tyler and I met in 2008 while we were both freshmen at the University of Oklahoma.  

We somehow ended up in the same circle of friends - and strangely enough were pretty much the only people in our group of friends who lived in the Couch Tower dorm building instead of the Walker Tower dorm building.

One of my favorite stories - and definitely my girlfriends' favorite stories - is my first "kind-of" date with Tyler.  There was a Spring banquet each year in the organization we were all in, and it was up to the guys who attended the organization to ask the girls to go with them to the banquet.  (It was basically a Christianized prom for big kids with no dancing.)  Well, as it was turning out - it seemed every other girl had been asked to go to the banquet except me and my two girlfriends.  While we all ate dinner together in the cafeteria, we were humorously complaining about how no guy had asked us and that we were just as good as any other girls.  Tyler happened to be sitting on our end of the table, so he decided to ask me then and there if I wanted to go with him (he didn't even know what the banquet was yet).  So in my already sarcastic mood, I said without thinking, "Oh!  I'll go with anyone!"  

Within a second, I realized how mean that sounded and apologized, and we went to the Spring Banquet.  

That was the start of us.

For another year, I still hadn't given in to liking Tyler.  Finally, at the beginning of our Junior year, we started dating.  I'd have to say Junior year was definitely the best year of college for me - I loved it!

Then I studied abroad in China the first semester of our Senior year.  Being in a relationship made me want to change my mind about going, but I had to for my major and I went.  It truly was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.  I made some wonderful friends from around the world, fell in love with a city, and a language.  I can only hope to go back one day.  While it was difficult on our relationship - I'd say it did more good than bad.  Being apart for six months really helped us grow our relationship in new, meaningful ways.  I have a series on Long Distance Relationships where I talk about these things.

After I came back, we both knew we wanted to get married.  Our time apart had really made us draw closer to one another.  Six months later, Tyler proposed!

We spent an entire year (and three days, to be exact) to plan our wedding, and it couldn't have turned out any better!  

Now we're just living the married life, enjoying every day together, and I don't ever have to make my own pot of coffee again...because it's already done when I wake up.  :)
