This past weekend, the Oklahoma State Fair opened once again for its annual festivities and Tyler and I took Friday evening to go explore and get some fair food.
The first thing we did inside the gates were purchase these giant turkey legs, and apparently the girl in the pink coat is astonished that I would pose with one.
Why yes, because I'm a blogger, I will pose with a giant turkey leg.
In other OK State Fair news, teenage girls were being mauled by large mutant stuffed animals.
(It really did appear she was being attacked by this stuffed bear as she carried it through the park).
When do I not take a couple selfie with the hubs?
We had a great time in the cool Fall-like weather and enjoying all the tastes, smells, and sights of the fair.
One of my favorite things to do at the fair are to go see the show animals.
Sheep are pretty much the cutest, so that's where you'll likely find me at the fair.
Baa. Ram. Ewe.
Toward the end of the evening there, we caught the tail end of the Kansas concert.
Its kind of surprising how good they still sounded. And of course it is always interesting to people watch. We saw a drunk hippie girl swaying her hips the whole concert, another girl head-butted her other half in the face (she was drinking too), and some hardcore fans who surely loved Kansas and went to their concerts in their prime.
When they did "Carry On My Wayward Son" for the encore, we decided to start walking to the car to beat the traffic. The funny part, however, was seeing all the people who were in the rest of the park who obviously only knew that song who started running toward the stage to see them perform.
I don't know why for sure, but I judge you if you only know one song and that's the only song you care to pay attention to at a concert. Have some respect and hear the rest of them out too, surely that band had more than one good song - you've just only heard one of them.
looks like a fair! it makes me miss the Texas State Fair...there's something about them, right?!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't been to the Texas state fair, but hope to one day since it is always during the OU/TX game. We always enjoy going, our second date was to the state fair, and we've gone every year since then!
DeleteLooks like so much fun!!! I haven't gone to the fair in forever and I think that needs to change!
ReplyDeleteThey're so fun! Definitely something for the fall bucket list! ;)
DeleteI've never heard of a Michigan state fair, so I don't know if they even had one. We had a little fair in our town that we'd go to every year--it's definitely a good people watching experience!
ReplyDeleteI guess I just assumed that all states had state fairs, since I have heard of them in other states too...maybe just some states do them. Either way, a fair is a fair! People watching is always fun to do. :)
DeleteI haven't gone yet! All of this rain and strange weather makes it hard to plan! I do need a turkey leg though...

Nah, a little rain won't hurt! Every time we've gone in the past several years it has rained on us on our way there, and quit raining by the time we arrived. Just be sure to wear some boots since it can be kind of muddy.
DeleteHope you'll get the chance to go, I think this weekend is the last few days it is happening!
