Last-Minute Christmas Party Vases

You guys, I really cannot belive how fast Christmas has come up.
Really.  It is next week.

Well, if you're like me, and this season just crept right by you, then you might be needing some last minute Christmas decoration ideas that are fast, cheap, and easy.  As I mentioned in my Giant Cardboard Ornament post, we are having a Christmas party at church this Sunday.  Several of us ladies are bringing decorations to make our party seem more festive and less middle-school-like.

Since our wedding, I have become an avid bottle recycler.  I mourn all those sad glass bottles I ever threw away.  Now I readily have on hand at least 10 glass bottles that are left over from food products.  A lot of them come from those cooking wine bottles.

After wrapping a present and having a small piece of paper left over, I thought of the idea to wrap the bottle with the wrapping paper!  I found this two sided paper this year, so it looks even better because you can see through the bottle to the other side of the paper!

So to start this project off, you'll want to measure the bottle or jar you are using.  Most bottles once had a packaging label on them, so it will look best if you just cover the paper in the area that was designed for the label.

Then you'll measure and cut the wrapping paper to be the same size.

I didn't take a picture of the last step, but just use some clear tape to tape the strip on the bottle!  Viola, super easy and fast Christmas party vases!

I love how you can see through to the other side of the paper.

Another great thing about this is it will be so easy to take the paper off after the party and use the bottles for something else!

Now I'm thinking I'll find some tree branches and glue some pearls on them as the filler.  Or some Christmas greenery clippings.  What do you think?

  1. Those are so cute! I always save the especially cool glass food/drink bottles, too!

    1. They definitely come in handy sometimes! Some of my favorite vases are the unique bottles I've saved!

  2. I am the same way since my wedding! I hoard glass bottles and jars for projects...I love what you made! I'll have to add that to my craft to-do list! :)

    1. It's almost addicting to just keep keeping! haha I'm glad I at least find things to do with them sometimes!

  3. Love this last minute DIY! Bet these look gorgeous with flowers in em.

    1. I'm thinking about getting some greenery clippings for them, I think that would look great as well!

  4. It's so cool that the paper is double sided! When we left our last apartment after being there for 4 months we had sooo many glass bottles, and I was quite sad to throw them out. Fortunately we (I) eat enough nutella to replenish our glass-bottle stock ;)

    1. I know! I've never seen double sided paper before! Oooh, Nutella jars are great! For some reason the United States seems to only sell Nutella in plastic containers, but every other country I've been to sells it in glass - but the glass jars are great for storing things!
