Days of Christmas: DIY Pearl Bauble

Happy Day-After-Thanksgiving out there!

(Oh, I guess they call that Black Friday now.)  Black Friday is overrated.

I'm going to spend the day with family.  My parents are meeting Tyler's parents today!

Well, since traditionally, the day after Thanksgiving is not only Black Friday, but also Decorate-EVERYTHING-For-Christmas Day, I'm going to start with a DIY ornament I made recently.

This ornament was inspired by an Anthropologie ornament I saw.  You can see it here.  Sometimes I love just browsing through some of Anthro's stuff, and then pinning it so I can make it much cheaper.  (hehe... oops, I mean *ho ho*)

All you need is...
  • an old ornament
  • a hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • a string of pearls

I started at the top near the metal hanger, and just glued in circles all around the bauble.  It only took me 2 glue sticks in my mini glue gun, so it doesn't take as much glue as you might expect.

And keep going, and going, and going...

I was afraid the end would be tricky, but I just tested how many would fit before snipping it, made a big glob of glue, and spiraled them right in.  It turned out quite seamless.

And there is your finished Pearly Christmas Bauble.
I topped mine off with some white ribbon for hanging.

So before you get your Christmas on today, I'll share one of my favorite Christmas songs.  It is a romantic and sweet song by Dave Barnes called Meet Me at the Mistletoe. (I'm seeing him sing this song one week from today!)  Enjoy!
