Okay guys, I'm probably going to be doing lots of these fun (and easily written) blog posts over the next few weeks! It is the time of year for papers, so I have had zero time for projects!
This is a fun link up I saw from Amanda at The Lady Okie called "Never Have I Ever."
I don't think I need to explain the point of this one, so let's get started, shall we?!
Never have I ever...
**Disclaimer: I was not sheltered by over-protective Christian parents who thought all these things were bad. No. Actually, sometimes my parents make fun of me for not knowing typical pop-culture references. I blame my sheltered-ness out of lack of easy opportunity, not lack of ability.
- Watched Star Wars. I probably get made fun of by someone (probably my husband) on a weekly basis for not understanding references to Star Wars.
- Watched the entire Harry Potter series, and I haven't read a single book.
- Watched or read Twilight. Absolutely. No. Desire. Don't. Torture. Me.
- Watched all of the TV show Friends. I've maybe seen 3 episodes?
- Wanted to watch reality TV shows. I have only seen them in situations where I was maliciously forced to by other people. Please just shoot me before ever making me watch something like the bachelor/bachelorette. And stop watching it yourself before you kill all your brain cells!
- Understood video game controllers. How do I not run into the wall? How do I shoot? How to I turn around? How do I jump? Why can you see me but I can't see you? Why did you just kill me when I don't even know how to play? Such is what my life looks like when friends or my husband have convinced me to try playing video games with them. It is just something I am not skilled in.
- Had a twitter account. #idontgetit
- Been to a country that borders the United States.
- Been any further east in the continental United States than Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
- Been drunk, smoked a cigarette, or done drugs. (This is a popular one, and I am copying because I think it is awesome and I like it).
- Been to a cultural (or even a Catholic) wedding. I've strictly been to white, protestant Christian weddings. Well, except for the wedding I accidentally crashed while I was in China. That doesn't count, and it is definitely on my bucket list to attend a cultural wedding of some sort!
- Been to an OU/TX game. (Bucket List!)
Okay, I have infinite never evers, so I'll just stop now. What things have you never ever done?
I haven't seen Harry Potter or Friends, at all. Actually, my husband took me to the last Harry Potter movie because it had just come out but I didn't understand anything and I fell asleep in the theater. I have been to Chinese Christian weddings and receptions for Indian weddings...but really I've hardly even gone to any weddings in my life. I was 16 the last time I went to a wedding (besides my own...)
ReplyDeleteTechnically i saw the last one too. The movie came out while I was in China, so my three American classmates wanted to watch it and had bought a pirated version from the theaters. lol I watched it with them since we were having an American hang out night, but I had no idea what was going on.
DeleteI bet those weddings were really interesting! Every wedding we've been to was different, but I still think seeing one from another culture would be really interesting! (I like how you say "besides my own" haha)
I haven't seen most of the HP movies, but I did read the books a few years ago. They were fun. You MUST watch Friends, though. Seriously, my favorite. I have seen all the episodes like 10 times at least. Probably more than that. Twitter is pretty fun actually, when you use it right :) Thanks for linking up! Good luck with all your papers!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's usually the reaction people give me about not having seen Friends! I think if I'd started it while it was still on TV I would have gotten into it, but I just find it highly unlikely that I will have time to make time to watch the entire series on Netflix or something like that. Besides, no one else would want to watch it with me since they've already seen it! haha
DeleteThanks so much for hosting the link up, it was a lot of fun!
Haha. I love the sidenote that you weren't sheltered by legalistic parents. I think that would have been my initial though about these if you hadn't written that. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I figured it was a pretty good disclaimer since most of those movies are pretty typical ones that some Christians ban their children from watching. Nope, not my parents. Apparently I'm just a little slow with the times! haha
DeleteMy husband and I literally gasped when we read Haven't watched Star Wars... Harry Potter and Friends! I can't imagine life without Friends and Harry Potter ;) How funny that you crashed a Chinese wedding. When I was in England I friend and I went to a Greek Orthodox church for a class assignment and we ended up crashing a wedding there as well. We had no idea! We were just sitting in the pews taking notes on the church and a couple came up to us asking if we were here for the bride or groom... as we started to leave they were like NO! stay and watch it will be wonderful. So that's what we did, and it was pretty awesome. I love this list! (I might have to do this one day.)
ReplyDeleteHaha I think its funny how shocked people are about those! Tyler grimaces every time that I don't understand one of his Star Wars references, but at the same time my argument is that he's never rented them and asked me to sit down with him and watch them all!
DeleteToo funny that you also accidentally crashed a wedding, but cool that they asked you to stay! The wedding I crashed was basically over, we just walked around and looked at their decorations (since they all have weddings in hotels).
I'm with you on not having watched Friends... but I stupidly promised to watch all the starwars movies before getting married. Guess what I was doing the weekend before the wedding?
ReplyDeleteHahaha ohh no! For your merit, I'm sure you didn't think you'd be watching them the week before your wedding! That is funny! And glad I'm not the only one who hasn't seen friends...I get so many shocked reactions!
