Our wedding was at
Deer Creek Lodge in Davis, Oklahoma in the lovely Arbuckle mountains in the middle of May. The lodge had two large ponds with canoes, lots of trees, and on our particular day lots of wind!
This is the state where the wind come sweeping down the plains.
We had a very traditional ceremony, led by my grandpa. After the processionals, we heard a brief message about God's plan for marriage, said the traditional vows, were pronounced, kissed, and walked away married!
When I say traditional vows, I mean they even had the 'thees' and 'thous' and don't tell me that's not a tongue twister! We worked hard to say those vows!
Here is a look at our ceremony through pictures!

The Bride's Entrance...
My walk down the isle started at the back door of the lodge. The beginning of "Carl Goes Up" set the scene, and my dad and I walked to the climax of the song. (My dad is wearing a police dress uniform).

And we walk away as married people! |
Last, but definitely not least, we asked
our friend Kevin to video our wedding for us. He seriously went ABOVE AND BEYOND and we are super impressed! He even went so far as to match the songs to the correct parts of the ceremony so that the sound quality would be full. Seriously.
Check out this
HIGHLIGHT VIDEO that he made to recap our ceremony and reception! I'd love to embed it for you, but I think due to the song used YouTube won't let me! But it is really worth the click! :)

That's awesome that you got such great pictures (and video too!) of your wedding day! I love the little backdrop (is it made of doors?) where you said your vows.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel! Yes, it is made from two old french doors. :)
DeleteAw how special! I love the traditional vows... although we did ours without the thees and thous! :) So bleak I can't see your video, it's blocked in germany :( There's SO much one can't access from here because "GEMA has not granted the respective music publishing rights".
ReplyDeleteOh, that stinks Erica! I sort of understand how that feels from when I lived in China (dealing with the great firewall), but I bought a VPN since you can't really get on many normal websites there. Thanks for trying to view the video anyway! :)
DeleteWe liked the traditional vows too - they really say anything you could need to say in vows, so why change them. Haha, yeah...the "thee's" and "thou's" made things more confusing, but that's what my grandpa knew so we went with it! lol
These pictures are great! Where is your dress from? It's gorgeous! I love seeing love...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up with us!
Hi Kristyn, thanks for stopping by! The dress actually has kind of a long story - but I bought it from an online shop out of Suzhou, China. The full story about where I got the dress, alterations and such can be read here though: http://letsdrinkcoffeedarling.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-bride-and-her-dress.html
DeleteThanks so much for hosting!
Beautiful photos! I LOVE your veil! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary! I made it myself - with the help of my mom and mother-in-law! :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous ceremony sight! I love how all the details from the location, to the flowers, to the pebbles all go together to perfectly. And I love that you choose Up as the processional song. It's one we considered, but instead decided on a different movie tune with Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shoshanah! Somewhere Over the Rainbow would be a great song too! We liked how Up! fit it with the vintage feel of our other songs, and was well received by both older and younger guests! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet comments - I appreciate it! :)
DeleteAwwwww what a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteI love that you kept the veil.
Due to its meaning I chose not to,
But I wanted to because of the tradition.
Was it as humid as it looks? Oh, Oklahoma.
Britt, I surprisingly don't remember it being to extraordinarily humid - but it was one of the first warm days we had of the spring - it was an unusually cool spring for us this year. Of course, the day after our wedding was when the tornado outbreak happened - I'm guessing that is why the wedding was extremely windy with different air blowing through!
DeleteHi, Saxon! I found your post over at the 'Show and Tell Friday' blog hop. I can never seem to pass up a good love story/engagement story/wedding story/etc.! What a beautiful nature setting for the ceremony and I love the decorated doors you used as the wedding alter! I'm now following your blog on Google+ and Bloglovin'. Can't wait to read more of your posts! I read your intro page and had to totally agree on what you said about your Christian beliefs! Legalism is NOT of Christ! Grace and love are what we are called to...let's leave justice and perfect goodness to Him!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Ann

Thanks for stopping by, Ann! I just followed your cottage blog via GFC!
DeleteI'm glad the beliefs section resonated with you as well. Legalism is a subject with a thin line, and really ends up being a heart issue. Just wish that seeing others fall into the same lies I once lived wasn't so annoying or difficult to be around!
