A Spring Wedding...When You Really Love Autumn

So, this past week, I've begun to have somewhat of a freak out moment.

My wedding is in May....but nearly ALL my wedding decorations would be perfect for a winter wedding...not a spring wedding.  Even the ideas that I continually must block from my head seem to give the impression of icicles and snowflakes rather than sunshine and flowers.

Let me be the first to admit...besides summer, Spring is my least favorite season.  I normally prefer a mildly warm day with a nippy breeze and leaves falling everywhere to a typical Spring day.

But, circumstances choose wedding dates, not preferences.  Well, I guess I could have waited, but that's not going to happen...so Spring it is.

Just to demonstrate, here is our wedding in my mind:  brown and white everywhere.

So what do you do when you need to be creating decorations for that special day...but you're stuck in Fall and Winter mode?  To get the point across, I literally have made NO decorations that are not some form of brown or white.  Isn't Spring supposed to be kind of cheery?  I guess you have the wrong girl.

Well, in some attempts to reconcile my drab personality and make it a bit more colorful (my favorite color is brown, y'all), I've created a Pinterest board dedicated to Spring to help get into the Springy mood.

Since Pinterest is the origin of many wedding dreams, I'm going to assume it can also help me remember the things I actually do enjoy about Spring...like Indian Paintbrushes, other flowers, and thunderstorms.  I wish thunderstorms were an acceptable wish for your wedding day...but for purely logistical reasons, let's pray it doesn't rain that day.

I found a few things that I'd originally forgotten that are sort of springy cheery, such as turtles, ladybugs, baby birds  teapots, strawberries and rainy day drives.

Maybe I can incorporate some of these ideas into the rest of my decorations to turn things from winter-brown to neutral with some cheery colors.

Until next time,

  1. I think it depends on where you are, and exactly what month. It may be spring, but that doesn't mean it isn't still cold outside! Regardless, I think you can have whatever colors you want. It's nice to match the season, but it's more important that you're happy! And you can add a little color, maybe some yellow or turquoise? Not much, but some accents to bring a little life to it :)

Thanks for linking up this week my dear! xoxo

  3. Haha too funny!
But I agree with Veronica, it's YOUR day, so do what you will!! In the years to come the pictures will be the ones telling the story, not the date :)
Another option would be to swap out all that "winter white" for a spring time blue... the blue would still help you to feel the winter vibe you love :)

Whatever you do will be stunning, good luck dear!
